On the 9th of December, 1995 Mckayla Maroney was born to Erin (Mother) and Mike (Father) in the city of Aliso Viejo, California (United States). Growing up with her two younger siblings Kav and her sister Tarynn in an Irish-Catholic household, she self-taught herself to prepare for an end goal.

Mckayla was signed up at gymnastics at the age of 2 by her mother who also participated in high school sports.
