Kwame Hasani Brown was born on March 10, 1982, in Charleston, South Carolina. His parents were Willie James Brown and Joyce Brown. His father was involved in Civil Rights Movement.

Unfortunately, his parents got divorced when he was young, so get to live with his father who, after some time remarried and had another son named Akeem Brown.

Kwame Brown completed his High School at Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Georgia. On August 2, 2005, Kwame Brown and Laron Profit were traded into the new team, Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins.
